New Donor Advised Fund Supports Critical Needs in Muskingum County
The Muskingum County Community Foundation is proud to announce the establishment of a new donor advised fund: The Compass Fund. Created by an anonymous donor with a personal connection to Muskingum and its neighboring counties, the Compass Fund is dedicated to supporting five essential areas of community need: hunger, education, history, health, and family supports.
100+ Women Who Care Muskingum County
100+ Women Who Care Muskingum County is a philanthropic giving circle that donates significant funding to 501(c)3 nonprofit Muskingum County organizations. Founded in 2019, the mission of the group is to reach out and help the community by organizing at least 100 or more women to contribute $100 three times each year. The goal is to keep the focus local and have maximum impact that can support and affect meaningful change in our community.
Kristie Oldson Knapp had a gift for making friends, due in part to her genuine kindness breaking down any barriers between strangers. She possessed a deep sensitivity, born from her unwavering desire to help others. If someone wasn't kind in return, it puzzled her, as kindness was simply her natural way of being. One of Kristie's most defining qualities was her willingness to be there for anyone, anytime. Her motto, “If you need me, call me”, wasn't just a saying; it was a promise she lived by, day or night.

The Veteran's Appreciation Foundation (VAF) is a fund at MCCF dedicated to enhancing the lives of veterans and their families in Muskingum County. Their mission is to provide support, honor, and improve the overall quality of life for these deserving individuals.
Seeing Into The Future: Sarah E. Slack Prevention of Blindness Fund
During the last years of Sarah Slack’s life, she suffered from macular degeneration, the leading cause of blindness among people over 65. Sarah was determined to do her part to help eradicate blindness and created an endowment fund at The Muskingum County Community Foundation to establish the “Sarah E. Slack Prevention of Blindness Fund”.

One of The Muskingum County Community Foundation’s oldest scholarship funds has awarded more than $1 million in scholarships over the last 33 years. Despite the success of the students who have benefited from this scholarship for generations, little is known or remembered about the person behind the scholarship fund. We are pleased to now share the story of Josephine Sebach.
MCCF To Administer McIntire Scholarship, Partner With Oldest Company In Ohio
The Muskingum County Community Foundation is pleased to announce it will oversee the scholarship administration of the John McIntire Scholarship Fund, as part of a new collaboration with the Zanesville Canal & Manufacturing Company.
Virginia Mae Everett was born in 1904 in Muskingum County, the second of five children in an agriculturally focused family. Her mother died in 1914 before her tenth birthday, and when her father remarried, she gained two additional stepsiblings.
New Soroptimist Fund Hopes to Help Women in Need
The Muskingum County Community Foundation offers scholarships to help cover expenses of higher education thanks to the establishment of several scholarship funds. MCCF is now pleased to announce the establishment of a new fund that helps one local organization achieve their goals.
Nestled outside of Maysville Elementary School sit three benches that form a horseshoe. A small gaggle of third graders spread themselves among the benches and settle in for story time. Across from them is a rocking chair, currently occupied by their teacher, that faces the benches for any storyteller to sit and read aloud to eager students. In the short distance, a wooden structure in the shape of a house stands with a small plaque that reads: “Lending Library – the best books are shared. Give a book, take a book.”
