The Foundation Council is an organization of volunteers within the Community Foundation. The Council exists to conduct the annual giving program and special events for the benefit of the Foundation's general fund while acquiring skills that will enhance their abilities to serve the community. The Council complements the fundraising and leadership roles of the Board of Trustees of the Community Foundation.

The Council membership represents the next generation of community leaders and prospective Trustees.

Members of the Foundation Council learn how organized philanthropy benefits the community and what constitutes effective service on volunteer boards and committees. Opportunities for interaction with Trustees provide Council members mentors who are among the current philanthropic leaders of Muskingum County.

The Foundation Council, in cooperation with the Resource Development Committee of the Board of Trustees, adopts annual goals for support of the Foundation's general fund. The goals will be met through a variety of activities and special events initiated and executed by the Foundation Council. Activities may include the promotion of the Community Foundation and Foundation Council and appeals for contributions to the general fund. Special events include the annual Groundhog Day Celebration in late January/early February and a variety of social events in which individuals become supporters of the Foundation and its programs.
