Born from a group of civic leaders determined to strengthen Zanesville’s quality of life, MCCF grew from a daring idea in 1985—championed by Ray Thomas and David Mitzel—into a thriving community foundation built on conviction, collaboration, and local pride. Despite early doubts that a small community could succeed, our founders knew the strength of Muskingum County. Their belief sparked a legacy of service, creativity, and generosity that continues to shape us today.
