Types Of Grants
- Grant funding is available to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations that are actively serving Muskingum County, Ohio. Eligible applicants represent a wide range of community work, including human services, education, arts and culture, health, youth development, and community and economic development.
- MCCF’s grant program offers flexibility to support real-world organizational needs. Grant funds may be used for: operational expenses, staffing support, programs and services, and capacity-building efforts like technology, training, or planning. Our goal is to reduce barriers and ensure funding aligns with how nonprofits operate and create impact in our community.
- Grant applications are submitted through Goapply, MCCF’s online application system. Eligible organizations create or log into an account to access current grant opportunities and submit required materials during the open application period. Applications are due annually in the spring.
- Grant applications are reviewed by MCCF’s Distribution Committee, which includes trustees and community members with deep ties to Muskingum County. Applications are evaluated based on: alignment with community needs, connection to the organization’s mission, organizational capacity, potential for meaningful local impact.
- Many of the grants awarded through The Muskingum County Community Foundation are made possible through donor-direct funds, also known as donor-advised funds.
- A donor‑advised fund is established by an individual, family, or organization to support charitable causes they care about. Donors recommend grants from their fund to eligible nonprofit organizations, and MCCF carries out those grants in alignment with charitable guidelines and community needs.
- These funds allow donors to stay actively involved in local philanthropy while benefiting from MCCF’s professional stewardship and community expertise.
- Donor-directed grants may support specific nonprofit organizations, particular causes or areas of interest, or community needs identified by the donor.
- Individuals and families interested in creating a donor‑advised fund can work with MCCF to design a giving plan that reflects their values and long‑term vision for the community.
