Paul Thompson Memorial Scholarship
Paul B. Thompson, 62 passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at Genesis Hospital. He was born October 22, 1958 in Erie, PA to the late Ernest and Ruth Black Thompson.
He earned his Bachelor of Arts in History from Westminster College and Bachelor of Music Education from Youngstown State University. He received his Master's in Administration from Ohio University and was a Principal at several area schools.
He taught music for 18 years and was an administrator for 17 years for a total of 35 years in education. He was an educator in Johnsonburg, PA, Crestline, Buckeye Central, Crooksville, Tri-Valley, Zanesville City, Fayette Co., WV, and Johnstown-Monroe. He was also a member of Central Trinity United Methodist Church, Covenant Presbyterian in Erie, PA, Zanesville Memorial Concert Band for 30 years, and Boy Scouts of America.
He is survived by his wife Linda Dovala Thompson; a son Eric Shields; a daughter Jennifer Shields; and two grandchildren: Conner Shields and Christopher Shields.
REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must:
- -Be a recent high school graduate, and entering their first year of college/university
- -Be planning to pursue a major in choir/vocal or music, eg. education, performance, therapy, composition, musicology, theory, etc.
- -Have a 3.0 GPA
- -Be accepted into a four-year college or university
- -Have 3 letters of recommendation
