Matthew B. Robinson Scholarship

Matthew B. Robinson was born June 7, 1976 in Zanesville, Ohio. He attended the Zanesville City Schools and graduated from Zanesville High School in 1994. While there, he was a member of National Honor Society, the Yearbook Staff, and the Varsity Basketball and Soccer teams. He graduated from Ohio University, Athens, Ohio with a Bachelor of Science in Education, specializing in Special Education SLD/DH.

Matt received a Masters in the Art of Teaching from Marygrove College in 2002. He furthered his graduate education at Ashland University majoring in Educational Administration.

Matt began his teaching career at Greenville City Schools. He also taught at Marysville Exempted Village Schools, London City Schools and the Zanesville City Schools. He spent sixteen years in the classroom as a dedicated, kind and caring Special Education teacher.

At the age of 38, Matt passed away on February 14, 2015 in the ICU Cardiac Care Unit at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.

REQUIREMENTS
Applicant for the scholarship must have been a graduate of a Muskingum County High School and presently accepted and/or enrolled as a freshman, sophomore, or junior in a 4-year accredited institution majoring in Special Education. The applicant must have at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA based on a 4.0 scale. Applicants should show evidence of community service, club memberships, or athletic participation while in high school and/or college. The scholarship may be used toward any Special Education major.
