Labor Essay Scholarship Contest
High School Juniors and Seniors from the four-county region (Licking Co., Knox Co., Muskingum Co., Coshocton Co.) are invited to submit an essay for consideration for the 5th annual Licking-Knox-Muskingum-Coshocton Labor Council, AFL-CIO Labor Essay Scholarship Contest.
Recently there has been a resurgence of interest in workers organizing a Labor Union. Workers in historically nonunion workplaces such as Amazon and Starbucks have increasingly fought to organize a union in their workplace: Why is this happening? Essays should include research and discussion on: the most common reason workers are organizing a union, the advantage of a union in the workplace and what the process is for workers to organize and form or join a Union. Please also include any personal stories about organizing or the effect Unions have had on you and/or your family.
The Deadline to submit Essays is March 21st. Essays should be no longer than 3 typed pages.
Two winners will be awarded a scholarship prize of $1,000 each
