This scholarship was established by Anthony Coy-Gonzalez, a teacher at the Ohio School for the Deaf and the 2021 Ohio Teacher of the Year. The purpose of this scholarship is to empower Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing youth in their pursuit of the teaching field and to further diversify the education profession in Ohio. Deaf students need Deaf role models and teachers who can relate with shared life experience.
