Rising BIPOC Teacher of Ohio Scholarship

This scholarship was established by Anthony Coy-Gonzalez, a teacher at the Ohio School for the Deaf and the 2021 Ohio Teacher of the Year. The purpose of this scholarship is to empower Black, Indigenous, and People of Color in their pursuit of the teaching field and to further diversify the education profession in Ohio. Our diverse students need role models and teachers who can relate with shared life experience. Research shows this improves student achievement and future success.

Scholarship applicant must be a graduating senior or recent graduate of an Ohio high school or equivalent program. The applicant must be pursuing a degree in education at an accredited college or University. Applicants must also demonstrate financial need.

Applicants must provide Two Letters of Recommendation, Essay Response, Transcript and Student Aid Report from FAFSA.

Plans are to make the first award in 2022.
