Professional Development Opportunities
Requests for Funds from GEAR UP
Teachers at GEAR UP schools (Grover Cleveland Middle School and Zanesville High School) are encouraged to request funds for incentives for students, activities, educational trips, and materials they need in their classroom. Requests must be made on an official GEAR UP Request Form. All parts of the request form must be filled out, including how the request links to our goals and objectives. All requests must be signed off on by the building principal.
Participation
Tutoring
GEAR UP is always looking for tutors for our After School Program at Grover Cleveland Middle School. Tutors must have graduated high school. They can be college students, working adults, retired individuals, or anyone in between. Tutors are needed Monday through Thursday from 2:15 - 4pm for the program, which consists of local community speakers, computer lab work, team building activities, homework support, OAT (Ohio Achievement Test) preparation, and clubs. Tutors help facilitate all of the above activities. Tutors are also needed for GEAR Up's Summer Enrichment program, where middle school students take trips one day a week for education and personal enrichment.

After School
GEAR UP is always looking for teachers who are willing to work with the After School Program at Grover Cleveland Middle School. The After School Program runs Monday through Thursday after school until 4:00 pm. Teachers can help with OAT (Ohio Achievement Test) preparation, or clubs. We currently have academic club, fitness club, art club, and scrap booking club. If you have an idea of a club you would like to do, or anything else you think would be beneficial to the students at Grover Cleveland, please contact GEAR UP! We are open to any suggestions!

Educational Trips
GEAR UP has money to help fund educational trips at GEAR UP schools (Grover Cleveland Middle School and Zanesville High School). Trips can be to businesses and colleges. Trips can also be taken to other educational places that align with your classroom curriculum and with our GEAR UP goals and objectives. Trips can take place during the school day, after school, or a combination of the two. Educators are also often needed to help chaperone trips planned by their peers, so keep your ears open for trips you are willing to go on. GEAR UP also takes students on educational field trips one day a week during the summer for each the middle school and high school. If you are interested in chaperoning these trips, please contact your GEAR UP Advisor.
