Three available positions provide great opportunity for recent college grads
ZANESVILLE, Ohio, July 11, 2018 – The Scholarship Central Access Program at The Muskingum County Community Foundation has again been selected to host three AmeriCorps Ohio College Guides through College Now Greater Cleveland. These positions last for 11 months and are fulltime, beginning on Aug. 1, 2018 and ending by June 28, 2019.
The program places recent college graduates into local schools and community centers to provide current information about the college-going process and career opportunities. Ohio College Guides serve as an adviser by mentoring and guiding students, who usually are first-generation college-goers, low-income or a minority, by helping them get the information they need so that the students and their parents can plan for their futures after high school ends.
Some College Guide duties include distributing post-secondary educational information to students, facilitating information sessions and programs for students and their parents, and providing advising help with career exploration, college selection and the application processes.
Benefits include a living allowance, healthcare coverage, an education award of $5,920 upon completion of the program, and qualified federal student loans are deferred during the service time. If applicable, a childcare allowance may also be provided.
This position is a great start to recent college graduates who are looking for more skill experience or training or who may be debating going back to school themselves. An associate or bachelor’s degree is required in order to be eligible for the positions.
No paper applications or applications through email will be accepted. Instead, interested applicants can apply by going to goo.gl/kU6mWE.
Interviews will be conducted at Scholarship Central and the office will be interviewing until all positions are filled. Scholarship Central is looking for talented individuals who want to make a difference in the local high schools while also gain valuable skill training that will help themselves for their own careers after the term ends.
For any questions or more information, please call Katie McCarty at (740) 453-5192. Again, applications will only be accepted via the application link and NOT by paper or email.
