MCCF to Offer Grantseeking Basics Seminar June 26

The Muskingum County Community Foundation (MCCF) “Grantseekers Central” program will offer a special seminar entitled Grantseeking Basics on Tuesday, June 26, at 1:30 p.m. in the MCCF Board Room at 534 Putnam Avenue. Open to the public and free of charge, the training is being presented as a community service activity of Grantseekers Central, an initiative of MCCF’s Cooperating Collection, which offers public access to the print and electronic resources of the Foundation Center. Established in 1956, the Foundation Center is the nation’s leading authority on philanthropy, connecting nonprofits and grantmakers and supporting them with tools and up-to-date information they can effectively utilize. The Center maintains the most comprehensive database on U.S. grantmakers and their grants, and operates research, education, and training programs designed to advance philanthropy at every level. The Zanesville Grantseekers Central is a member of the network of over 400 Cooperating Collections located in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and Mexico, and includes 5 Foundation Center Regional Centers located in New York City, Washington, DC, Atlanta, Cleveland, and San Francisco. Grantseeking Basics will be helpful to any nonprofit groups or individuals who are interested in learning about locating and pursuing grant funding for their possible projects. The seminar will be facilitated by Terry Kopchak, MCCF Educational Consultant, and will feature an overview of the grantseeking process, including valuable information pertaining to building a credible nonprofit organization; the various sources for grant opportunities, such as private foundations, corporate giving programs, and grantmaking public charities; identifying funding needs; finding potential funding partners; and locating and accessing grantseeking resources. The presentation will run from 1:30 – 3:00 p.m.
