Community Youth Foundation Accepting Applications for Oliver Flanagan Scholarship

ZANESVILLE- The Muskingum County Community Youth Foundation is pleased to announce that applications are being accepted for the 2009 Oliver Flanagan Scholarship.
The Oliver Flanagan Scholarship Fund was established in March 2007 by Mary Flanagan, Oliver's widow. The purpose of the fund is to assist worthy students who have graduated from secondary schools in Zanesville and Muskingum County with the purchase of college textbooks.
The recipient of the Oliver Flanagan Award will be a college sophomore, junior or senior who holds a 3.0 grade point average in college and can demonstrate financial need.
The current level of assistance is $250.00. Students receiving the Award must have proof of textbook purchases and request reimbursement.
Applicants must provide name; addresses for home and school; email address; telephone number(s); copy of the Student Aid Report; and an up-to-date college transcript. A 250-word essay describing why the applicant should win the book award is also required. Applications may be Faxed to (740) 453-5734 or mailed to CYF, 534 Putnam Avenue, Zanesville, OH 43701. Applications must be postmarked by November 10, 2009 to be considered for the award. Selection will take place at the November meeting of the Community Youth Foundation.
