ZANESVILLE-The Muskingum County Community Youth Foundation is sponsoring a coat drive to benefit area nonprofit organizations before winter strikes.
This is the second year the Youth Foundation will collect coats for Eastside Community Ministry and The Salvation Army. The initial project was the idea of Sierra Moore, a 2009 graduate of Philo High School and Miss SEO Teen. After distributing more than 190 coats last year, members of the Youth Foundation decided to pursue the project again, with a committee of five students leading the effort: Katie Young, Sarah Madson, Lynsey Ridenour, Vogue Hall and Kelli Paul.
The Community Youth Foundation is requesting donations of gently used and new coats of all sizes to benefit The Salvation Army and families with children in the Eastside Community Ministry Youth Program. Cash donations can also be made by mailing them to CYF Coat Drive, 534 Putnam Avenue, Zanesville, OH 43701.
Individuals can donate coats by dropping them off at the Community Foundation and the following Century National Bank locations from October 5 to October 21:
- Downtown, 14 S. Fifth Street
- East, 1705 East Pike
- South, 2127 Maysville Avenue
- North, 1201 Brandywine Blvd.
- Dresden, 91 W. Dave Longaberger Avenue
- New Concord, One W. Main Street
The Community Youth Foundation is a component fund of the Muskingum County Community Foundation. It exists to empower youth to make a difference in their community by providing financial and human resources to projects that benefit the youth of Muskingum County. The group engages in a variety of activities, including: community service projects, leadership development, grantmaking, scholarship scouts, fundraising and social activities.
