CHESP
(4-12-02) About the Community Youth Foundation CHESP Initiative The Muskingum Community Youth Foundation has been awarded the Community, Higher Education & School Partnerships (CHESP) grant. This initiative is pursuant to the National and Community Service Trust Act of 1993. CHESP is funded by the Corporation for National and Community Service (CFDA 94.004) and is administered by the Governor's Community Service Council, Ohio Grantmakers Forum, Ohio Department of Education, and Ohio Campus Compact. This initiative will strengthen and expand the Community Youth Foundation which was formed November 2000. Youth will learn about philanthropy through partnerships and service learning to raise funds, distribute grants and scholarships, and increase awareness of peers of the local scholarships, funds, and grants available. Service learning "integrates community service with academic study to enrich learning, teach civic responsibility, and strengthen communities" (Learning In Deed, National Commission on Service-Learning). Partner Organizations For this initiative, five area organizations will work with the Community Youth Foundation to help them attain their goals and objectives:
